I'm not receiving notifications. What should I do?
Step-by-step troubleshooting for notification issues
If you're not receiving notifications from PHapp®, follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. Check App Notification Settings
In PHapp:
- Go to Settings → Notifications & channels and check that App push is turned on — this works without signing in
- If you are signed in, also check that SMS is on if you want text alerts, and that how much to be notified is not set to “Don’t notify me”
- If you are signed in, go to Settings → Topics you follow and check that the topics you want are selected (choosing topics needs a Hub Account)
2. Check Device Settings (iOS)
On iPhone/iPad:
- Open Settings app
- Tap Notifications
- Find and select PHapp
- Ensure "Allow Notifications" is ON
- Set alert style to Banners or Alerts
- Enable Sounds, Badges, and Lock Screen notifications
3. Check Device Settings (Android)
On Android devices:
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps & Notifications
- Find and select PHapp
- Tap Notifications
- Ensure notifications are allowed
- Check that the app is not optimized for battery (this can delay notifications)
4. Check Your Community
- Make sure you have chosen an active community — its name shows on the location button
- You are notified only about alerts for that community
5. Check Internet Connection
- Verify you have an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular data)
- Ensure PHapp is allowed to use cellular data in your device settings
- Test your connection by refreshing the app
6. Update the App
- Check the App Store or Google Play for PHapp updates
- Install any available updates
- Restart the app after updating
7. Reinstall the App
If problems persist:
- Note your community and settings
- Uninstall PHapp
- Restart your device
- Reinstall PHapp from the App Store or Google Play
- Check your community and settings again, signing in first if you use a Hub Account
