I'm not receiving notifications. What should I do?

Step-by-step troubleshooting for notification issues

If you're not receiving notifications from PHapp, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check App Notification Settings

In PHapp:

  1. Open the app
  2. Go to Settings → Notifications
  3. Verify that notifications are enabled
  4. Ensure your preferred channels (in-app, SMS, email) are turned on
  5. Check that alert categories you want are not muted

2. Check Device Settings (iOS)

On iPhone/iPad:

  1. Open Settings app
  2. Tap Notifications
  3. Find and select PHapp
  4. Ensure "Allow Notifications" is ON
  5. Set alert style to Banners or Alerts
  6. Enable Sounds, Badges, and Lock Screen notifications

3. Check Device Settings (Android)

On Android devices:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Apps & Notifications
  3. Find and select PHapp
  4. Tap Notifications
  5. Ensure notifications are allowed
  6. Check that the app is not optimized for battery (this can delay notifications)

4. Verify Your Locations

Make sure you have:

  • At least one location added to your monitoring list
  • Location coordinates are accurate (not in the middle of the ocean!)
  • Location is spelled correctly if entered manually

5. Check Internet Connection

  • Verify you have an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular data)
  • Ensure PHapp is allowed to use cellular data in your device settings
  • Test your connection by refreshing the app

6. Update the App

  • Check the App Store or Google Play for PHapp updates
  • Install any available updates
  • Restart the app after updating

7. Reinstall the App

If problems persist:

  1. Note your monitoring locations and preferences
  2. Uninstall PHapp
  3. Restart your device
  4. Reinstall PHapp from the App Store or Google Play
  5. Re-add your locations and preferences
